Lene Fröyd: Building a career around her passion for hunting and dogs
Lene Fröyd, 42, lives alone in a charming cottage outside Tingsryd, nestled in the heart of the Småland wilderness. In addition to breeding hunting dogs, Lene runs Halita Jakt, a hunting company specializing in organizing hunts primarily for Norwegian hunters. Her parents, who already had a deep passion for hunting, purchased the business in 2011, marking the beginning of Lene’s journey as a dedicated hunting enthusiast.
– My mother and stepfather have always hunted in Sweden, and when they got the opportunity to buy the business, it felt like the right decision. We took over the entire operation, and since then, it has been full speed ahead.
Lene has an impressive background. She previously worked with showjumping horses in Norway, traveling as a groom and driving trucks loaded with competition horses. However, her passion for hunting truly ignited when she began accompanying bird hunts.
– Seeing the dogs work and collaborating with them in the forest was something entirely different. That’s when my real interest in hunting began to grow, she explains.
Since then, her dedication to hunting and hunting dogs has evolved into a thriving career.
Lene now works full-time with Halita Jakt, and her days are packed with preparations for hunts. Her tasks include organizing feeding, monitoring wild boar activity at bait stations, positioning hunters, and performing tracking and butchering. Additionally, Lene often serves as a dog handler on other hunts.
– There are almost always hunters here, and it can get hectic—but I love it, she says.

Lenes hundar är en viktig del av jobbet och vardagen.
Halita Jakt has become very popular, often fully booked with hunters who come for the rich wildlife in Småland.
– It’s a great feeling to offer an experience that people really enjoy. Sometimes we even have to say no because so many want to come, Lene says.
Lene is very careful about the quality of her hunting clothes.
– We hunt in all kinds of weather, so the clothes must work well. Farmerrain rainwear is amazing—it’s easy to put on and lets air through, so you don’t get too hot while moving, she explains.
If you could wish for anything, what would you want Farmerrain to create next?
Lene also wishes that Farmerrain would create raincoats for dogs, as she has noticed how hard it is to find good products that keep the dogs dry.
– We don’t stop hunting just because it starts raining, so having raincoats that work would be amazing!
Even with her busy schedule, Lene remains positive about the future.
– The rest of the year looks great, and even though we have to turn down some bookings, it’s a luxury problem, she adds.
Hunting, dogs, and the Småland wilderness are deeply important to Lene. Thank you for sharing your story!
