Clothes that withstand wear, give freedom of movement and protect against the weather during long
working days with the animals. In the range for stable and country life you will find, among others,
Overall Bio+, Opalo Overall and Opalo Hängselbyxa – garments built to work in a stable environment,
in the farmyard and out in the field.
Lined garments can be machine washed at 40 °C, without fabric softener. Turn the garment
inside out and let it dry completely before turning it back. Never tumble dry; hang the garment
so that it air dries. Do not wash unnecessarily: usually it is enough to wipe it with a damp cloth
and lukewarm water, without detergent. Do not store light-coloured and glossy garments
against dark colours, leather or imitation leather, as they can transfer colour. The lined
garments are the Flisan jacket, the Wilma coat (also available fleece-lined) and Kappa, which is
lined with a cotton fabric.
An overall works well for gardening, and so do bib trousers. If you want knee pads, choose the
Adventure bib trousers, where you can insert your own. If you want reinforcement on the seat,
there are the Ask bib trousers. You can also use chaps or waist trousers. If it rains a lot and
persistently during the day, people usually wear a jacket or a welded unlined coat. All our
models can be used in that environment, and most have double-welded seams for higher
strength.
The Adventure bib trousers and the waist trousers are our trousers for work. If you need
pockets, choose the Adventure bib trousers. You can insert your own knee pads in them, which
saves your knees. If you work a lot on your knees, there are also the Ask bib trousers, with
reinforcement on the knees and seat and an openable top section. Waist trousers can feel a little
warmer, but are sometimes easier to move in. Our Biovinyl+ fabrics are over 20,000 mm, and
for full days we recommend welded seams.
An overall works well for muddy fields and wet grass, and so do bib trousers. All our models can
be used in that environment. All shoulder trousers, like the bib trousers, have straps under the
foot that keep rubber boots in place when you sink into mud or soft ground. The shoulder
trousers also cover the body well and retain much of the body’s heat. The vinyl layer is smooth
and completely sealed, so you wipe off mud and dirt with a damp cloth and lukewarm water,
without detergent. For heavier dirt, uncoloured, unscented soft soap (pine soap) works well.
Most of our garments have what it takes to last in that environment: Biovinyl+ fabrics with over
20,000 mm water column, and most models have double-welded seams. Then you choose the
design that suits the job best. An overall suits washing machinery or stables. Bib trousers and
the sailing jacket suit inspection and feeding. The lower part of the trouser legs and the area
between the legs usually wear out first.
The hat originally protected against the rainy south-westerly wind, and that is why it is called a
sou’wester. The word is borrowed from German südwester, Dutch zuidwester and English
south-wester. The earliest attestation in Svenska Akademiens ordbok (SAOB, the dictionary of
the Swedish Academy) is from 1848.
A sou’wester is a waterproof hat with a long brim that hangs down over the neck and shoulders.
It was worn by sailors and fishermen and was traditionally made of oilcloth or galon. We have
sou’westers for both adults and children.
