Biovinyl+ is based on BIOVYN\u2122, the world's first commercially available bio-attributed PVC.<\/p>\r\n
It gives the same protection as traditional vinyl, but part of the raw material in production is renewable instead of fossil, and the share is tracked using the mass balance approach.<\/p>\r\n
The most important environmental decision is still to use a garment for a long time.<\/p>\r\n
That is why we can often repair our garments, and we take them back when they are worn out.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The word anorak comes from the Greenlandic anoraq.<\/p>\r\n
The Inuit made their anoraks from sealskin and caribou hide, with no front opening, so the warmth stayed in and the wind stayed out.<\/p>\r\n
Polar expeditions brought the word and the garment to Europe in the early 20th century.<\/p>\r\n
In the Nordic countries, the Vikings had arrived at a similar solution. They wore woollen tunics pulled over the head, with a separate hood on top.<\/p>\r\n
Against rain and sea wind they had the vararfeldur, a cloak of Icelandic wool in which the natural grease in the fleece made the water run off.<\/p>\r\n
These cloaks were valuable enough to be used as currency in Iceland.<\/p>\r\n
Two peoples on opposite sides of the North Atlantic reached the same conclusion: a garment that closes around the body and keeps the weather out.<\/p>\r\n
